Our Fundraising Marathoners can use your support:

Help Cornellian Al's Oct 25 Marine Corps Marathon effort to raise $1500 here.  From Class of '87, he's an ambitious first time marathoner and a Navy Chief vet!

Alexandra is another Cornell marathoner (first time!)  for Stop Soldier Suicide this year! Encourage her (and her friends she trains in the Navy) with a donation big or small here to help her raise $1500.

You can support Cornellian JJ's Oct. 25 Marine Corps Marathon effort as he fund-races for Stop Soldier Suicide here. Another vet, he led the charge this year-- was first to sign up! Help him reach his target of $500!

Donations should be made online through each registrant's individual fundraising pages or by checks made payable to "Stop Soldier Suicide” and mailed to: Stop Soldier Suicide, Inc. P.O. BOX 670212, Dallas, TX 75267-0212. Please include “MCM + Runner’s Name" in the memo line to credit your participant. Checks will be allocated to your runner’s fundraising page. Not sure of full name or how close our runners are to their fundraising goals? Click open their fundraising link above!  (Mailing a check saves you an online processing fee.)

What to expect at a CCW running meet-up:

After introductions and a brief update on Cornell Club events, we ask for volunteers to co-host our next outing. We will share our goals for the day (running distances or walking.) Then we typically set out as runners and as walkers on the trails outlined in the map below. Take a look to choose your preferred distance and pace! It's as social as it is for healthy exercise.

There are usually walkers in the group. Many of our group come simply to stroll on the mall and meet other Cornellians for a good gab! We are not all marathoners and there's no pressure, though some have used our club to eventually meet a marathoning goal, including a 61-year old! Members can tell you about the local charity run scene and local trails. We build mutual support at the level of interest.

The Mall is not the only place we can gather. We also have interest declared in running at Rock Creek Park, and there are folks who do Park Runs.

Learn how our club supports SSS through Marine Corps Marathon! You can read our group's Running Journal for insight on how two of our group did it last year. CCW sponsored Stop Soldier Suicide, raising a ton of dough for the provision of mental health services for soldiers in crisis. SSS has about 50 runners who fund raise for them this year, and 3 are from our Cornell Group! More details are here.  And direct donor links are below. Runners are regular people like you and me, vets, nurses, moms who want to support evidence-based suicide prevention!

Let's set up our next runs by hearing from volunteers to co-host.

You might find some spontaneous meet-ups mentioned on our WhatsApp thread at:

https://tinyurl.com/ccw-whatsapp

We aim for at least one gathering each month (March-November.) Give us a date a couple weeks ahead of time to post here for CCW (and with enough lead time, we can put it onto the Events Calendar.)  Just volunteer to be a "host" that greets the group. Send the date, location/logistics, time and your email address for us to post to

community service     @ cornellclubdc   .org  [no spaces]

Donor links are in the RED BOX below! We're so proud to have 3 Cornellians from our club doing the marathon as a charity run!

Good Luck to Al, Alex and JJ on the Stop Soldier Suicide a marathoning team!

Thank you, SSS, for inviting Cornell Club members aboard to help Vets, Soldiers, and their Families!
