American University Museum has arranged a guided tour for our group on August 5, 2015, at 6pm, of the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition, before an event at 7pm commemorating the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The exhibition includes 20 artifacts collected from the debris of the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as six large folding screens that are among the 15 screens created by Iri and Toshi Maruki, 1995 Nobel Peace Prize nominees, over 32 years from 1950 that depict the aftermath of the atomic bombings. Immediately after the guided tour, we will attend an event at 7 pm that will include testimony by a Hibakushi (a survivor of the atomic bombings) and performance by the children of Little Friends of Peace. For more information about the exhibition and the event, please visit American University Museum's web site at http://www.american.edu/cas/museum/gallery/2015/hiroshima-nagasaki.cfm .
