Since 1987, Peter Weygandt of Weygandt-Metzler Importing has been an importer of top artisanal European wines. He has gained an international reputation for the quality and diversity of his selections. Weygandt Wines in Washington, DC, is the next natural step for Weygandt-Metzler: a retail store dedicated to showcasing Peter’s portfolio, from the most well-known viticultural regions and winemakers to lesser-known appellations as well as up-and-coming producers. It is a place where consumers can come to learn about the portfolio, and occasionally meet the importer and our winemakers.

Aigner Grüner Veltliner 2015 – Kremstal, Austria – 100% Grüner Veltliner – 13.5% abv – Sustainable This exhibits a spicy, peppery nose with hints of citrus and grapefruit. A very appealing, mineral-laden, dry, crisp white.

Domaine Alary “La Grange Daniel” Roussanne 2014 – Cairanne - Rhône Valley, France – 100% Roussanne – 14% abv – Organic The complex, aromatic nose displays dried pear, nectarine and anise, with a subtle mineral undercurrent. At once generous and steely, with good breadth to its pit and orchard fruit flavors. Zesty lemon peel and mineral notes add bite to the slightly edgy finish.

Château de La Greffière Mâcon La Roche Vineuse 2014 – Mâconnais – Burgundy, France – 100% Chardonnay – 13% abv – Sustainable With fruity notes of lime, peach and pear, and white floral notes and butter, this wine displays rich palate with minerality and moderate acidity.

Daniel Bouland Côte de Brouilly “Cuvée Mélanie” 2014 – Côte de Brouilly - Beaujolais, France – 100% Gamay – 13% abv – Sustainable – This has a bright bouquet of red currant and raspberry leaf scents that are well-defined and natural. The palate is very well-balanced with good structure and plenty of fresh red cherry and strawberry fruit. The finish is refined and focused – a top class Côte de Brouilly.

La Folie Lucé “Encore” 2013 – Saumur Champigny – Loire Valley, France – 100% Cabernet Franc 11.5% abv Biodynamic Forward, with a rounded, easygoing feel to the black cherry, cigar smoke and modest spice notes.

Domaine Les Aphillanthes “Galets Plan de Dieu” 2014 – Côtes Du Rhône – Rhône Valley, France – 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre – 14.5% abv – Biodynamic Gives up complex, lively aromas and flavors of dark fruit, pepper and flowers, medium-bodied richness, good acidity and sweet tannin.
