  • NY Ave Men's Shelter, 1335 NY Ave NE

Registration

Join CCW and Catholic Charities as we provide a clean, welcoming atmosphere for indigent locals who need a place to stay!

Volunteers will clean the shelter so it is a welcoming as possible to the men who will stay there that night. Volunteers will scrub, sweep, dust from top to bottom. If time and numbers allow, volunteers could help organized storage areas, tear sheets, and other tasks. A location tour will be provided.

Participants: Up to 20 volunteers may attend this event. Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes, and long pants are recommended. Teen volunteers (ages 12 and up) accompanied by parents or guardians and with a signed parental waiver are welcome. All adult volunteers will sign the Catholic Charities standard liability waiver, confidentiality agreement and media release when they sign in at the project.

Metro and Parking: The NOMA Gallaudet Metro Station is a little over a mile away; street parking available; parking deck (must pay) above the MOM’s Organic Market (s blocks east of the shelter); the stout of heart may park across NY Ave behind the chain link fence.

Questions: Contact Laura Gonzales Meyers '04 at Lmg38@cornell.edu.
