*** 6 Cornellians now singing in this Camerata! ***
Dona Nobis Pacem, a cantata written by Ralph Vaughan Williams in 1936, is a plea for peace recalling the memory of World War I amid growing fears of World War II. The texts are taken from the Latin Mass, poems by Walt Whitman, a political speech, and Biblical quotations.
The Camerata brings this beautiful and moving work to downtown DC with soloists Rosa Lamoreaux, soprano and Christopher Edwards, baritone, members of the celebrated Washington Symphonic Brass, The Virginia Glee Club of the University of Virginia, and Chris Betts, organist.
