The Smithsonian and several other museums/archival institutions rely on crowd-sourcing and volunteers to help transcribe historical and important documents that are unreadable by OCR recognition. This is an activity that allows the volunteer to make a difference from home, and on their own time/at their own pace - all you need is access to the internet, a computer, and patience. Join us and spend an informal hour and a half learning more about how to contribute to large-scale transcription projects, set up your account, and get started transcribing while chatting and spending time with other Cornell alumni.
