Members of The Cornell Club of Washington are invited to attend the 2023 Eagle Award Celebration by the Metro Washington Chapter of the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation (ARCS MWC), recognizing Jason Providakes, PhD '85, President and CEO of MITRE.
The Eagle Award is presented annually to recognize leaders who have highly distinguished careers supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Awardees include individuals from diverse sectors, such as academia, research institutions, public service, not-for-profit organizations, and global corporations. Previous awardees are listed on the ARCS MWC website at: https://metro-washington.arcsfoundation.org/metro-washington-honorees. MITRE has employed more than 144 Cornell alumni and launched a corporate partnership with Cornell’s Systems Engineering program. In addition, the former Joseph Silbert Dean of Engineering at Cornell, Lance Collins, currently is a member of the MITRE Board of Trustees and is the Inaugural Vice President and Executive Director of the future Virginia Tech Innovation Campus, which is scheduled to open in Alexandria, VA in 2024. In 2019 Dean Lance Collins spoke on Cornell Engineering’s role in shaping the future of energy, STEM, and diversity in Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and Civil and Environmental Engineering.
