“Building a Legacy: Women’s Role in Economic Empowerment and Community Change

Join members of the Cornell Alumni community on Saturday, March 8 in supporting unemployed and underemployed women achieve economic independence in the greater Washington, DC area. 

There are multiple ways you can get involved:                                           

• Drop off a gently used professional clothing item between 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Accept clothing donations between 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Sort clothing donations 9am – 5pm
• (split shifts – 9am – 12pm; 11:30am – 2:30pm; 2pm – 5pm)
• Help seat guests/pass out programs (etc.) for the morning’s presentation scheduled for  9:30am – 11:00am

Donation Guidelines 

Dress for Success Washington, DC, accepts dry-cleaned, ready-to-wear, new or nearly new, in-season, and wrinkle-free women's professional attire. Donors can contribute up to 25 pieces of SPRING and SUMMER items, in any size, hung on hangers. Please note that a complete suit, where the jacket and bottom are the same size, will count as one item.

We accept the following:

• Interview appropriate suits
• Professional separates:
• Blazers 
• Skirts 
• Pants 
• Cardigans 
• Blouses/shells
• Dresses 
• Dressy khakis and solid polo shirts
• Scrubs
• Work-appropriate dress shoes (no sandals)
• All-season Coats and Jackets 

We do not accept clothing that is dirty, stained, torn, has holes, pet hair, smells of smoke, or is out-of-date.
