History lives in the stories we tell — and in the lives we choose to celebrate. The Steven W. Siegel ’68 Awards honor a remarkable Cornellian whose legacy reminds us that preserving history is a form of activism, and living authentically is a form of leadership. Steven Siegel was more than an archivist or advocate — he was a builder of community. From championing LGBTQ+ rights and Jewish genealogy to shaping alumni life at Cornell, Steven made space for stories that matter. He believed in the power of showing up, speaking out, and lifting others as he climbed. At a time when LGBTQ+ rights continue to be challenged, we celebrate the Siegel Award recipients for carrying that legacy forward — through courage, advocacy, and joy. This is more than an award. It’s a celebration of who we are, where we’ve come from, and the future we’re building together.
