Background:
Major Richard Gannon '95 was one of two Cornellians who have died in the service of our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.
On 17 April 2004, Gannon was on his second combat tour in Iraq as a company commander. While relieving a besieged position in Anbar Province, he went to the aid of a mortally wounded Marine and died in the ensuing firefight. For his actions that day he was awarded the Silver Star by the President of the United States. Major Gannon left behind his wife, Sally, and four children.
Please join us as we remember Major Gannon, Cornell, and our military community.
