In honor of the 20th Annual Cornell Mid-Atlantic Crab Feast, join this special pre-feast webinar with Dr. Judith Weis A&S ’62, Professor Emerita at Rutgers University.

With nearly 7,000 species scuttling across land and sea, Dr. Weis will share fascinating insights into crab biology, behavior, and their role in our kitchens and culture.

Whether you’re into marine biology, crab eating, or are simply curious about the strange and sideways lives of crabs, this webinar will give you tons of knowledge to sink your claws into.

About the speaker: Dr. Judith Weis ’62

Dr. Judith Weis A&S ’62 is a Professor Emerita of Biological Sciences at Rutgers University, Newark. She is an estuarine scientist with a research specialty in salt marshes and author of Walking Sideways: The Remarkable World of Crabs.

Distance: 5 K with options to make it a shorter (and social) stroll of 1-2 miles.

June 21, 9:00 am - weather permitting- consult web site for date/time change if necessary.

Registration closes June 18 at midnight.

Details, links, continual updates, trail map, cancellations: https://sites.google.com/view/ccw-event-details/running-walking-group

This is CCW's Alzheimer's Association event. Casually conducted, a little bit tongue-in-cheek, and especially terrific as an event to bring a friend, bring the kids, take it fast or slow around the National Mall.  Make it a father-daughter run, a mother-son run.  it's casual and small but a community service event.

It's SOCIAL. You'll meet some cool Cornellians when you come to Falls Church. Don't want to walk more than a mile? No problem! Our web page gives you the trail maps for stroller, dog-walking or RUNNING options.

Your advanced registration helps organizers make sure we have enough bananas for all.
Registration becomes FREE if you meet our posted criteria.

Paid parking is available on Independence or at L'Enfant Plaza.

Bad weather cancels the event or might shift it to 8 am out of caution against heat. (That includes a killer heat wave or anything rainier than a mild, refreshing mist. A notice of such change will be placed at our URL above as early as 6:30 am.)

Participate at your own risk. There's no med tent! Bring water!   And don't miss the paddle boating option in the Tidal Basin to celebrate afterwards. (Make your reservations for that independently, please.)

Steven W. Siegel '68 Awards Celebration

Dinner and Awards at 8pm ET

The Cornell Club of New York at 6 E 44th Street, New York NY 10017

    Ivy Room, 4th Floor

History lives in the stories we tell — and in the lives we choose to celebrate. The Steven W. Siegel ’68 Awards honor a remarkable Cornellian whose legacy reminds us that preserving history is a form of activism, and living authentically is a form of leadership.

Steven Siegel was more than an archivist or advocate — he was a builder of community. From championing LGBTQ+ rights and Jewish genealogy to shaping alumni life at Cornell, Steven made space for stories that matter. He believed in the power of showing up, speaking out, and lifting others as he climbed.

At a time when LGBTQ+ rights continue to be challenged, we celebrate the Siegel Award recipients for carrying that legacy forward — through courage, advocacy, and joy. This is more than an award. It’s a celebration of who we are, where we’ve come from, and the future we’re building together.

The Cornell Club of Washington invites all fellow alumni in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland to celebrate the legacy and tradition of Theodore Zinck's

Multiple Zinck's in the Washington DC area.

This years Zinck's in Washington DC will be at The Admiral, 1 Dupont Circle (main entrance on New Hampshire Ave,, south side of the Circle)

Come join us in DC - Walk-ins welcome!

A second Zinck's is set in Reston.   https://cornellclubdc.org/event-5872576

Another other Zinck's in the Washington DC area may be posted soon.

Theodore Zinck was a saloonkeeper in Ithaca and his pub, the Hotel Brunswick, was a popular gathering place for Cornellians in the 1890s. After his death in 1903, several bars using his name continued to provide a haven for students. When the last “Zinck’s” closed in the mid-60s, celebrating the spirit of Zinck’s became a favorite Thursday night Collegetown tradition of undergraduates. It wasn't long afterwards that Cornellians continued the tradition in their hometowns.
