***SOLD OUT - WAITLIST ACTIVE BELOW***

Attention all eco-minded CCW Members! Here's a special opportunity for a boat tour on the Anacostia River. Come hear how the Anacostia Watershed Society has been cleaning up and restoring what was once known as one of the most polluted rivers in the U.S. Over about two hours, the tour will travel eight miles of the river, from bustling urban waterfront to serene natural areas. Most of the main stem of the Anacostia River runs through Washington DC, and about 80 percent of the tributaries that feed it run through Prince George’s and Montgomery counties in Maryland. The tidal Anacostia carries all of this water into the Potomac River, and eventually into the Chesapeake Bay. The Anacostia is rebounding from decades of abuse and neglect and  supports over 180 species of birds, nearly 50 species of fish, and 8 species of freshwater mussels. Some of the animals you can see in and along the river include: bald eagles, beavers, white perch, ospreys, striped bass, cormorants, herons, turtles, egrets, herring, red fox, shad, and kingfishers.

The skiff accommodates 18 passengers. Registration is free. Limited to CCW Members and guests who are CCW Members.

Departing from the dock at Diamond Teague Park, across from Nationals Stadium.

Metro: Navy Yard-Ballpark
