Dear DC-Area Alumni,
As we start the New Year—or “second semester” for those of you who still think in those terms—we wanted to update you about the Cornell Club of Washington's activities and thank you for your enthusiastic support of our events, our scholarships, and our continuing efforts to connect Cornell with its area alumni, students, and friends.
Hundreds of you have already joined us for events, from a holiday concert and wine reception at the French Embassy to a Hangovers performance at Jammin' Java. You joined book discussions, potluck dinners, museum tours, and--of course--Zinck's Night! If you've yet to join us, or are wondering what's on tap, there are dozens of upcoming events listed on the Club's website.
We exceeded last year's goal of 100 new members. This year we've set our goal even higher. We hope to be more than 1,000 members strong by the end of the year! If you’re not currently a member of the Club, please join us! Our membership categories include alumni, parents, and friends. And we have a Life Membership category for those who wish to join once.
Your generous support has also enabled the Club to maintain several endowed scholarships and stipends that support Washington area students and participants in the Cornell-in-Washington program. We appreciate past support and continue to welcome donations to CCW scholarships.
Finally, if you are interested in helping us lead the Club and create opportunities for area alumni to join together, we need your help. We currently have volunteer openings for those with skills to support our web and social media presence. And we have a need for enthusiastic alumni to lead our community service efforts. So please consider contributing your energy to our Board. If you would like to join other Cornell of Washington volunteers in serving are alumni, please let us know at president@cornellclubdc.org. And if you have not already, please follow us on Instagram!
Look forward to seeing you at an event this year! Go Big Red!

March, 2024:
As we reach the halfway point of our first term as Cornell Club of Washington co-Presidents we wanted to connect with you about the Club and where we are heading. Thanks to so many of you who have already joined us for events this year. Together we laid wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery, welcomed Cornell's Glee Club and Chorus, and connected with area alumni and friends at two locations for Zinck's Night. We toured museums and saw shows, cheered on Big Red women's gymnastics, and awarded scholarships to area students.
Our Spring calendar is just as full! From potlucks to book discussions, chances to cheer-on Cornell's baseball and softball teams, a visit to Glenstone Museum, and a hike up Old Rag Mountain, to name just a few. We are also continuing our monthly Explore DC Happy Hour Series—another opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones who share a connection to Cornell.
This year we have set a goal of a hundred new members and we are almost there. If you are not currently a member of the Club, please join us! Our membership categories include alumni, parents and friends. And we have a Life Membership category for those who wish to join once and also support CCW scholarships.
Finally, if you are interested in helping us lead the Club and create opportunities for area alumni to join together, please consider contributing your energy to our Board. The nominating process for 2024-25 Board positions has just opened. If you would like to nominate someone to serve—including yourself—please let us know at president@cornellclubdc.org. Another way you can assist the club in directing our energies is to complete our short survey. Thank you!
Look forward to seeing you at an event this year! Go Big Red!
