The Tide Changes: Midway and Winning the Naval War in the Pacific
A David Silbey talk.
"The battle of Midway, in June 1942, was the turning point of the war in the Pacific. A mere seven months after the US Pacific Fleet had been devastated by the surprise Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, a ragtag American fleet destroyed four Imperial Japanese Navy carriers, the centerpiece of their naval power. This talk will look at how the battle came to be, how it happened, why it was such an overwhelming US victory, and how it affected the rest of the war."
