Featuring Keynote Speaker General John M. Paxton, Jr., BS '73 MEng '74, Assistant Commandant, United States Marine Corps
Enjoy an excellent meal and conversation with fellow Cornellians at our Annual Dinner. We are honored to be joined by the evening’s keynote speaker, General John M. Paxton, Jr. He received his fourth star and assumed the duties of the Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps on December 15, 2012.
Prior to his current assignment, General Paxton served as Commander, US Marine Corps Forces Command; Commander, US Marine Corps Forces, Europe, and Commanding General, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic.
After earning Bachelor of Science and Master of Civil Engineering degrees from Cornell in 1973 and 1974, respectively, General Paxton was commissioned into the Marine Corps in 1974, through Officer Candidate School. In his “free time” at Cornell, General Paxton was the president of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, a member of the 1971 NCAA lacrosse championship team, and played football. He was tapped by the Sphinx Head Society as senior.
In addition to the Basic School, General Paxton’s professional education includes US Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School (non-resident), US Army Infantry Officer Advanced Course, and the US Marine Corps Command and Staff College. General Paxton has also held a number of Fellow positions at various institutions.
Also during this special evening, President Nicole DelToro will preside over the club’s annual business meeting, including the annual report, presentation of the Bondareff and Best Program awards, and election of board members.
Our venue, the Waterview Conference Center, is located on the 23rd and 24th floors of the Corporate Executive Board Building, offering breathtaking views of the Potomac River, monuments, and the National Cathedral.

6:30 pm to 7:30 pm - cocktails and networking (cash bar)
7:30 pm to 10:00 pm - Buffet dinner, dessert and program (coffee, tea and soft drinks included)

Metro: Rosslyn (Orange/Blue lines); exit to the east onto North Moore St. between 19th St. and Wilson Blvd. Walk approximately one block north on Fort Myer Dr. Turn right on 19th St. North. Walk approximately one block on 19th St. North and through the intersection. Turn left on North Lynn St. and a short distance ahead the Waterview Conference Center will be on the right. Proceed to the registration desk in the main lobby.
Parking: Garage parking (Please note: the garage is located on 19th St. adjacent to the Le Meridien Hotel entrance.) Once parked, take the Office Elevators located in the southwest corner of the garage to Level 1. Then proceed to the registration desk in the main lobby.
On street and other garage parking is also available.
