Capped at 20 people

The tour, led by an experienced docent, takes an hour and includes introductory visits to the main exhibits in the museum including such long standing favorites as The American Presidency, Price of Freedom (the military history section), the First Ladies gowns (a very popular new version), America on the Move (transportation in the US), and the original Star Spangled Banner that flew over Ft. McHenry in Baltimore during the siege in 1814.

This tour is essentially a "tasting menu" of what the museum offers and there is a lot more to see such as a super exhibit on the Emancipation Proclamation (including Abraham Lincoln's office suit and the hat he wore to Ford's Theatre) and a fun exhibit called "American Stories" that includes a rotating set of historic artifacts  which has recently included Judy Garland's Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz and a lot more. Everyone will have plenty of time after the tour to go back and get a better look at the exhibits or items that really caught their eye.

Please meet on the first floor of the Museum which is right off Constitution Ave. There is a real Conestoga wagon on display and that’s where we will gather just before 2pm.

Afterwards, we’ll walk over to Elephant and Castle on Pennsylvania Avenue to grab a drink or a bite to eat.
